We have created two separate programs that are intended to reduce
economic barriers for creating new letterboxing patches. It is
our hope that these programs will help introduce more variety
into the patches that are available for our hobby and may also
eventually generate proceeds that can be used to help support
the preservation and exhibition of letterboxing patches for future
generations.
The
Patch Buy-Out Program is designed to reduce the
financial burden on people who have had patches produced in the
past, but have been unable to sell them all in a timely manner
and would like to recoup their investment. To qualify for this
program, your patches must have been available to the public for
at least one year. If your patches are accepted into the program,
we will purchase any remaining patches at the original price that
you paid for them when they were produced. The terms of this buy-out
are that we will assume full legal copyright of the patch image,
and reserve the exclusive right to reorder duplicate patches in
the future. You must agree not to continue reproducing and selling
these patches, thereby competing with our fund-raising efforts.
The
Cooperative Patch Production Program can help
to substantially lower the cost of producing a new patch design.
Essentially, we will attempt to reduce your cost per patch by
doubling your order quantity for an approved design and splitting
the order with you. The patches must be ordered from an approved
patch manufacturer that offers a quantity discount for larger
orders. Your half of the patches will be delivered to you, and
you will have exclusive rights to sell them for a period of one
year, or until you sell out. After that, we will begin selling
our half of the order. If you still have any of your patches left
at this time, you will automatically qualify to sell them through
the Patch Buy-Out Program, if you wish, or you can keep them for
yourself or sell them as you see fit. However, we will assume
full legal copyright of the patch image, and reserve the exclusive
right to reorder duplicate patches in the future for the purpose
of raising funds to support our mission of preserving and exhibiting
the history of letterboxing patches.
